Maharashtra police’s Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has opened its crusade against corrupt female emplyoyees and their corrupt female associates.

Pune: The state anti-corruption bureau (ACB), Pune, arrested sales tax officer Nayana Rajan Guhagarkar (47) on Thursday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a businessman at Vikrikar Bhavan in Yerawada.

ACB deputy superintendent of police Ganesh More said in a statement issued on Friday that the complainant (name withheld) had got his sale tax registration number cancelled after he closed down his moulding press business in 2013. He had filed an application for a sale tax refund, but did not receive it.

He met Guhagarkar and requested her to expedite his plea. However, she allegedly demanded Rs 1,000 to issue the refund cheque, the ACB said.

The businessman filed a complaint against Guhagarkar with the ACB. Around 5pm on Thursday, officials from the bureau laid a trap and caught her red-handed while accepting the money.

A case has been registered against her under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

In another matter, Zill Panchayat Junior Clerk Mamtarani Pedddapalliwar arrested for acceptance of bribe of Rs. 2000 to clear salary of a Primary Teacher.


Also caught red handed is Sunita Krushna Khadake, Senior Clerk, Land Acquisition Office while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs.800/- from complainant at Jalgaon.

Further Disproportionate Personal Assets to known sources of income (DPA) case registered by ACB Aurangabad Unit. DPA case registered against 1) Ashok Baburao Havelikar, then Medical supdt. Dy. Dist. Hospital Gangapur, Dist. Aurangabad and 2) Rohini Ashok Hawelikar (his wife).

Vardha ACB has arrested Public Prosecutor Bhavna Umap-Jagtap while accepting Rs. 4000 as bribe for not apealing in a case in the court.
