AS Chennai drowns under the heaviest rain ever, here is a team of bureaucrats comprising 15 officers belonging to IAS, IPS, IRS, IRTS etc. who set up a virtual communication room by leveraging their social media expertise, and helped in turn many flood-hit victims by using their bureaucratic clout and connect. “Kamakshi Memorial Hospital in Pallikaranai is without power. There are patients in ICU and needs dialysis. Please make sure they are rescued” — is one of many messages the center had received, and the bureaucrats located across states intervened immediately. As Chennai flood situation had worsen on Wednesday, many including victims and their relatives took to social media platforms to inform these civil servants. Let’s take a few such messages to understand the situation:

We absolutely do not know wat their status is! Chennai teams! We are in Bangalore and not able to do anything! Please help! Please!! This is their address…”
4. “90yr old grandma with them. If someone could help in transporting them to a hotel or accommodation with supplies, we would be grateful…”
